“Guardians Of The Galaxy” Officially Has The Strangest Comic Book Movie Cast Ever

http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/webdr02/2013/6/3/13/enhanced-buzz-4712-1370281018-12.jpg

Benicio Del Toro just joined Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, and (maybe) John C. Reilly. But is he playing Thanos?

Marvel Studios has a habit of occasionally casting out-of-the-box actors for its movies. Kat Dennings in Thor and Robert Redford in 2014′s Captain America: The Winter Soldier aren't the sort of actors one might expect to see in a comic book movie. Most famously, pre-Iron Man Robert Downey, Jr. was a quirky character actor with zero box office cred.

With Guardians of the Galaxy, however, co-writer-director James Gunn (Slither) has apparently been given carte blanche to cast his movie pretty much entirely with actors you would never expect to see in a modern comic book movie. Starting with…

Benicio Del Toro as…maybe Thanos? (Oh please, let it be Thanos.)

Geek News Buzz Guardians Of The Galaxy Officially Has The Strangest Comic Book Movie Cast Ever Guardians Of The Galaxy Officially Has The Strangest Comic Book Movie Cast Ever

According to Deadline, Del Toro's unspecified role will extend beyond Guardians, which immediately had me thinking “Oh, so he's Thanos” — i.e. the menacing purple alien who appears at the very end of The Avengers and has a fetish for death.

Marvel won't comment and there are any number of other Marvel characters Del Toro could be instead. But Guardians, which arrives in theaters Aug. 1, 2014, is the Marvel film that precedes The Avengers 2. Casting an actor of Del Toro's stature (and weirdness) in a movie set in space, in a role that will apparently continue on to at least The Avengers 2 — which likely is not set in space — has my brain saying “Thanos Thanos Thanos Thanos” over and over again until it loses all meaning.

Chris Pratt as Star-Lord

He's playing the lead role of Peter Quill, a.k.a Star-Lord, a.k.a. “a half-human, half-alien intergalactic sheriff whose special combat suit protects him in deep space as he draws his twin guns on evildoers,” according to Marvel's official description. Hey, we know the guy can get ripped.

“Not bad but not the best”

I expected a unit of this size to put out hotter water when flowing to a single sink. It’s useable but not as good as others I’ve used. I’d hate to think of what the lower wattage models would do.It also has the annoying habit of occasionally…Read more

“Unreliable and VERY dnagerous”

The first unit I installed started to leak after 2 days – the joint between the two heating chambers. Rheem sent a replacement. The second unit turned on spontaneously – when the faucet was closed and caused a massive build up of pressure and then fried…Read more

“Rheem RTE13 Water Heater”

I purchased this item for my small tenant’s cottage (1 tub,/shower; 1 lav; 1 kitchen sink). Had the service upgraded to 60amps by a licensed electrical professional who also hooked it up. I calculated usage at 1.5 gpm and this was rated at 4 gpm. The end…Read more

Rheem RTE 13 Electric Tankless Water Heater 13 kw 4 GPM 240V

Plumbing installation wasn’t too bad since I used sharkbite connectors, steel sharkbite water heater tubing, and some copper piping.

I did have to use adapters to go from 3 /4 piping to 1 /2 inch since the unit is 1/2 inch hookup. But it works just fine.

Electric was the tricky part. I would’ve called an electrician, but I am fortunate enough that my breaker box is 3 feet from my water heater, so running the wire was no trouble.

The unit requires a 60 amp breaker, which is twice as much as the tank it replaced, and 6 gauge wire, which is something a stove usually demands!

6 gauge is extremely thick and difficult to maneuver. If the distance had been long, I certainly couldn’t have done it. Also the wiring isn’t too cheap. 10 feet for 20 bucks.

The hardest part was hooking up those wires. They barely bend. Getting them to slide into the electric blocks was almost impossible.

The unit is brilliant because it remains on standby until you open the hot water side of a fixture. When the water begins flowing the flow sensor activates the unit. Pretty cool.

So it only uses electricity a few times a day.

However when it is on, it uses a lot!

Every light in my small condo dims when my roommate takes a shower.

Overall I love this unit, and I totally recommend it!

Endless efficient hot water!

Matt Smith Is Leaving “Doctor Who”

http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/webdr05/2013/6/1/17/enhanced-buzz-15577-1370123004-11.jpg

Matt Smith will be stepping down from his role as the Eleventh Doctor at the end of the year, after the Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Doctor Who star Matt Smith is to leave his role as the Doctor at the end of this year, BBC One announced Saturday.

Matt Smith Is Leaving Doctor Who Geek News Buzz Matt Smith Is Leaving Doctor Who

The actor has spent four years inside the TARDIS as the Eleventh Doctor, first appearing on the show in November 2010. BBC One confirmed that he will regenerate in this year’s Christmas Special and a new actor will assume the role of the Doctor.

“Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show. I’m incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.

Having Steven Moffat as show runner write such varied, funny, mind bending and brilliant scripts has been one of the greatest and most rewarding challenges of my career. It's been a privilege and a treat to work with Steven, he's a good friend and will continue to shape a brilliant world for the Doctor.

The fans of Doctor Who around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I've never seen before, your dedication is truly remarkable. Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number Eleven, who I might add is not done yet, I'm back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special!

It's been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the TARDIS for a spell with 'the ginger, the nose and the impossible one'. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys.”

“Every day, on every episode, in every set of rushes, Matt Smith surprised me: the way he’d turn a line, or spin on his heels, or make something funny, or out of nowhere make me cry, I just never knew what was coming next. The Doctor can be clown and hero, often at the same time, and Matt rose to both challenges magnificently. And even better than that, given the pressures of this extraordinary show, he is one of the nicest and hardest-working people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Whatever we threw at him – sometimes literally – his behaviour was always worthy of the Doctor.

But great actors always know when it's time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break, as we say goodbye to number Eleven. Thank you Matt – bow ties were never cooler.

Of course, this isn't the end of the story, because now the search begins. Somewhere out there right now – all unknowing, just going about their business – is someone who's about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and Doctor Who will be born all over again! After 50 years, that's still so exciting!”
